Made with sweet potato and matcha, these cute Christmas trees make the perfect Christmas treats to share with friends and family.
This is an easy recipe that doesn't need to any baking, and takes less than 30 minutes to make. Children will love helping to make trees and then decorating them!!
You can use cookies, pastry cases or anything you like for the base. It will be even nicer to use your own home baked cookies!
No-Bake Matcha Christmas Tree RECIPE
INGREDIENTS
[ 20-25 trees]
700g/ 1.5pounds sweet potato , peeled and cut into 3cm(1inch) thick slices
120g/ 4.5oz sugar
60g/ 2.5oz butter
60ml milk
3 tsp (6g) matcha
pinch of cinnamon, to taste
25-30 cookies or tart cases of your choice for the base
pearl sprinkles, powdered sugar etc, for topping
INSTRUCTIONS
1 Steam or microwave the sweet potato until it's soft enough to mash.
(To steam) Put them in a steamer or colander set over a pan of simmering water and cook for 7-10 mins.
(To microwave) Put them in a bowl covering in a cling film, and heat at 600W for 7-10 mins.
2 Put the still warm sweet potato and other ingredients into a blender and blend until it forms a smooth paste. Let it cool a little. *Mixing is more successful while the sweet potato is warm.
3 Fill a piping bag with the mixture, and pipe a circle of the mixture onto cookies. Decorate with sprinkles and powdered sugar, to taste.
