A great way to make nice cold drinks in summer
If you make your ice cubes with tea, they will still cool your drink, and unlike normal ice cubes which dilute the drink, the drink flavor is maintained.
Also, once you make them, you can keep the ice cubes in your freezer, and then you can make a refreshing drink anytime of many different types.
Ice cubes with hojicha
Hojicha - 焙じ茶 - , literally means "roasted tea", and is made from some form of green tea that has been roasted. As it is roasted, the leaves turn brown and get a nice aroma.

A lot of drinks combine well with it. It's simple but very useful to make ice cubes with hojicha!
Hojicha Ice Cubes RECIPE
- water 400ml (2cups)
- hojicha tea 8g/0.3oz (loose tea or tea bags)
- sugar, to taste
- Use boiling water(90C/194F) and steep hojicha for 1-2 minutes, and add some sugar if you desire. Let it cool for a while.
- Pour the tea into ice cube trays, and put them into the freezer for 4 hours or more.
How to enjoy hojicha ice cubes
Make hojicha latte with your favorite milk.
Pour orange juice onto them.
Ocha-wari, alcohol with tea, is common in Japan. How about enjoying whisky or shochu(Japanese distilled spirit) with them?
Of course, you can pour hojicha onto the cubes, then you can enjoy a delicious cup of iced hojicha without watering down.
