While one may be more familiar with Goya (bitter melon) being used in food recipes, here is the iconic Goya tea from Okinawa prefecture, by Nakazen. Goya (Bitter melon) is a native vegetable from Okinawa that is green, bumpy, and resembles more of a cucumber rather than a melon. It is very well known as a summer superfood vegetable that will give you strength and energy due to its bitter taste. In Japan, and especially in Okinawa prefecture, Goya is utilised in the well-known Goya chanpuru recipe (a stir fry food that includes Goya, tofu, and egg) as well as in salads. This tea is recommended for the summer time to get you through the hot summer days.
