Master dyers at Kyoto-based Maeda Senko have created the Shikisai (“colors of the seasons”) series of tenugui hand cloths to express each month of the year.

August is the month of fireworks festivals, or hanabi taikai. Every week between late July and early September, and focused primarily in August, cities throughout Japan celebrate the summer with spectacular fireworks displays.

If you hear people call "tamaya" or "kigaya", this is a tradition stemming from the Tamaya and Kagiya Fireworks Guilds during the Edo period. Their techniques for fireworks creations were renowned thoughout Japan.
