Winner of the New Product Competition, Kitchen & Dining Category, at the 6th Gourmet & Dining Style Show (Autumn 2009, see photos), for its miniature size and lightweight, this is a matcha stone mill is handcrafted by master stoneworkers from stone quarried in Kagawa Prefecture.

The very best matcha in Japan is milled with stone mills slowly with large electric-operated operated stone mills that cost over $5000, but for personal use, use in cafes, use in milling small quantities, this hand operated version is perfect.

Smaller sizes are also available, but due to the decrease weight of smaller sizes, the powder grains are bigger. These personal size stone mills may get the grains to about 10 microns if you grind slowly and carefully (and of course use tencha as the base).
