This Hojicha powder for baking from Obubu is simply a powdered form of the well-known roasted Japanese tea, hojicha. It has a naturally sweet taste and a pleasantly earthy/woody aroma. How is hojicha powder used in Japan? Like matcha powder (which you may be more familiar with), you can use it in ice cream, pudding, to make baked goods such as cookies, cakes, donuts, etc... yes, there is always room for creativity! Although it may not be common overseas, in Japan, you will see some cafes serve it as hojicha latte drinks.
If you would like inspiration, please refer to the hojicha roll cake recipe. Please enjoy in many ways!
