much better than most other genmaicha i've tried, which mostly just taste like bancha with a tiny hint of rice. the rice flavor is much stronger here but doesn't overwhelm the tea, either.

I wasn't wowed by this genmaicha. I use genmai as a staple tea, as it is inexpensive and quite satisfying. For this particular genmai, I was underwhelmed. It lacks an intensity of flavor I have found in other brands. It also isn't as thick on the tongue as some others I have tried. (for context, I am not comparing this with matcha iri genmaicha blend, which is a whole different animal). While I will drink this, as I have 2 pounds of it, I can't see myself purchasing it again. Would be interested to see if Yunomi's other genmai options are a bit more robust.

Definitely my favorite of the Genmaicha I've tried. Very pleasant in the morning, helps my poor appetite a lot.

Dry leaf is a blend of puffed brown rice and larger, flat broken pieces of leaf, some smaller leaf. A nice mix really. It brews up a pale green tinted yellow.
The aroma isn't anything super complex: toasted rice, and some grassy umami.
Flavourwise it's very similar with flavours of toast, rice, toasted rice, seaweed, spinach and a touch of umami.
