2025 National Tea Competition
2nd Grade (7th Place)
Kamairicha
Yoshiyuki Kai
Nobeoka, Miyazaki
Yabukita Cultivar
In 2025, this traditional kamairicha was awarded 2nd Grade (7th Place) at Japan’s prestigious National Tea Competition.
Produced by Yoshiyuki Kai in Nobeoka, Miyazaki — one of the few remaining regions in Japan where traditional pan-fired green tea is still crafted — this tea represents the continuation of a rare and historic method.
Made from the Yabukita cultivar and heated in an iron kettle rather than steamed, this kamairicha develops refined aromatics, clarity, and a balanced sweetness characteristic of the pan-fired style.
As with all competition lots, only a limited micro-batch was produced specifically for judging. We are honored to offer a small allocation of this rare lot.
