The Kikizu family has been farming tea for about a century in the Sonogi region of Nagasaki Prefecture. 4th generation tea farmer is offering four of the more rare cultivars from his farm unblended for tea enthusiasts worldwide.
Shincha 新茶 package only available between April - June.
Their tea fields are based on mountains at elevation of about 350 meters. So the family does not use pesticides prior to the spring harvest, and only uses pesticides if necessary in the summer. Other cultivars are available.
Flavor
This tamaryokucha has slightly sweet umami notes, and a little bit of sparkly bitterness. The aftertaste is long and creamy, almost reminiscent of buttery spinach.
