Grown and processed by 4th, 5th, and 6th generation tea farmers of the Yokota family in the Sayama region of Saitama, this tea was grown from the seeds of the Yabukita plant (therefore not a single specific cultivar), and shaded for about two weeks in order to create extra umami flavors.

The name "Hiromoegi" comes from the youngest member of the family, 6th generation farmer, Takahiro and "moegi" --- the color of young leaf buds when they first appear:
