The 3-year aged bancha product was developed for the macrobiotic industry, as a natural way to reduce caffeine in tea as much as possible. Autumn harvested bancha stems are separated from their leaves and stored in the Tarui family's warehouse for three years. They are then roasted to further reduce caffeine and impart a slightly roasted flavor.
