First flush harvest tamaryokucha green tea from Osuzu region of Miyazaki prefecture in Kyushu. Tamaryokucha is created by skipping the last rolling step of sencha processing allowing the leaves to remain curled. When the first step is steaming instead of pan-firing, it can also be further categorized as guricha.
Oshikawa Seicha's Umeccha is deep-steamed, so may also be sub-categorized as a guricha, or because it is deep-steamed, it may also be called a fukamushicha.
Three to five different production lots of green tea are blended to make the excellent color, taste, and aroma of this tea. The name 'umeccha' means 'extremely tasty tea' in the Miyazaki dialect.
