Master dyers at Kyoto-based Maeda Senko have created the Shikisai (“colors of the seasons”) series of tenugui hand cloths to express each month of the year.
October features tsukimi - viewing the autumn moon, a celebration of honor of the harvest. The tradition dates back a thousand years and remains popular even today.
