Included with this set are the following teas:
Heritage gyokuro - Grown by shading plants under a canopy made traditionally with straw, allowing Harashima-san to adjust the strength of the shading, this leaf is handpicked for the most delicate, umami-rich tea liquor.
Sencha - made from leaf picked around the 88th day following the start of spring according to the lunar calendar, this fortuitous time is also when the leaves are young and at their premium. Altitude 600 meter field.
Benifuuki single cultivar black tea - this Japanese black tea or wakocha from Harashima-san was harvested in the summer (June), and is a tea with a good balance between astringency and sweetness
Genmaicha with matcha - made with toasted rice from Kyushu and Harashima-san's own matcha, this tea is has both the toasty nuttiness of genmaicha and the fresh sweetness from the matcha powder.
Hojicha - premium roasted green tea from the spring harvest is made from both sencha and leaf stems, roasted at a high temperature.

- NOTES: Gift wrapping cloth is seasonal and may not be the same as photographed. Yunomi bags may be used instead of Chiyonoen bags.
About the Farm
Chiyonoen Tea Farm is a small tea garden operated by husband and wife farmers Masashi and Eri Harashima deep in the mountains of Yabe Village, Fukuoka, Japan. The 3rd generation farm specializes in high grade mountain-grown sencha and gyokuro. Established by his grandfather and the farm's namesake, Chiyokichi.
