In the year 1950, Tao Kobayashi started a confectionery business in Nagano city. Few years later, he shifted his business to manufacturing and sales of oak leaves. From there, he expanded the products to yomogi (Japanese mugwort) used for wagashi (Japanese sweets), bamboo leaves, and walnuts. In 1970, began harvesting, processing, marketing, and selling products such as bamboo leaves, oak leaves, Japanese basil, and Japanese horse chestnuts in Tsugaru city of Aomori Prefecture. The present company, Kobayashi Tao Shoten Co.,Ltd., was established in 1977 in Nagano city of Nagano Prefecture.
Located in the central part of Japan, our company is responsible for everything; from harvesting, processing, to selling. Specializing in tsumamono (garnishes) that are an essential part of Japanese dishes, we offer safe, natural products to our customers. Japanese dishes are not only delicious but are known for its beautiful arrangements. Sakura flowers and leaves, Japanese maple leaves, bamboo leaves, plum and peach flowers... all of these products represent each season, adding a visual taste to each plate.
