Makinohara, Shizuoka, is said to be the origin of deep-steamed green tea or fukamushicha. This refinement of the bright green saemidori cultivar from the Homme Asakichi Tea Factory was an award winning tea at the Nihoncha (Japanese Tea) Awards in 2017.
