Creha at the Amabuki Sake Brewery

February 04, 2014

Our resident black tea expert, Hiroshi Okamoto of the Creha Tea Shop wrote on Sat, 2/1:

(Translation notes in parenthesis)

“Today participated in the first opening of 2014 of the Amabuki Sake Brewery in the Town of Miyaki, Saga Prefecture (a celebratory event at many sake breweries every year).

We made tsubaki mochi (mochi cake made from camellia leaves). It’s usually white, but white looks too much like just regular rice, so it was dyed a sakura pink color. The mochi was from Domyoji Temple (in Osaka).

My black tea, Mirai, goes well with this mochi. I intended to serve Mirai at the event but brought lots of different black tea so took requests from all the guests.”
