Mountain-grown on a tea field surrounded in mist every morning, this top grade gyokuro uses the prized saemidori cultivar for a rich, sweet flavor. Handpicked, and grown with traditional shading (utilizing a roof created by straw) and cultivation techniques.
The 2015 harvest won the grand prize at the 2015 Fukuoka Tea Competition, and Silver Medal at the 2015 National Tea Competition.

Production notes: Shaded for 20 days using straw (traditional shading process) that is suspended above the tea plants to prevent damage of the leaves. Handpicked harvesting. Lightly steamed (asamushi).

Region: Yame, Fukuoka
Tea: 3 grams. Time: 3 minutes. Water: 40˚C/102˚F degrees, 30 ml. Use soft water (low in minerals). Even with filtered water, boiling first helps to remove any unnecessary smells from the water.
For subsequent steepings (up to 4 times), enjoy as a premium sencha -- Time: 30 seconds. Water: 70-80˚C/158-176˚F degrees, 180-240 mL (1 cup).
